Posljednja igra u kojoj smo preuzeli ulogu mutantskih kornjača je bila ona iz 2014. godine. Rađena po uzoru na seriju s Nickelodeona, no igra nije bila ništa posebno i nije se proslavila. Ovih dana se priča o igri koja će biti adaptacija romana TMNT: The Last Ronin koji je izašao 2020. godine.
TMNT: The Last Ronin je dosta mračna priča namijenjena za odraslu publiku. Ako ste fan TMNT onda ste sigurno čuli, a možda i pročitali ovaj roman. Za one koji nisu toliko upućeni, priča prati samo jednu kornjaču, Michelangela, koji je ostao bez svoje braće i Splintera. Njegovu obitelj su istrijebili pripadnici Foot klana, a Mikey traži osvetu.
Ova igra neće biti 2D, već 3D što je veliki napredak u odnosu na prijašnje TMNT igre. The Last Ronin će biti single-player igra, točnije akcijski RPG iz trećeg lica, a prema nekim izvorima developeri će razvijati ovu igru po uzoru na zadnje God of War igre.
