SCS Software najavio je kako u budućim ažuriranjima planira omogućiti igračima istraživanje mape koristeći različite kategorije vozila, s posebnim naglaskom na automobile i kombije. Uvođenje ovih vozila predstavlja prvi korak prema implementaciji takozvanog Road Trip moda, u kojem će igrači imati priliku prikupljati razglednice posjećujući znamenite i prepoznatljive lokacije diljem Sjedinjenih Američkih Država.
Mislim da nam je svima nejasno zašto će ovako nešto biti ubačeno u American Truck Simulator kraj znatno popularnijeg Euro Truck Simulatora 2. Ipak budući da obje igre dijele isti engine i fizikalni model ne sumnjamo da će isto doći nedugo nakon i u Euro Truck Simulator. Jedan od razloga za ovakvim potezom je možda baš to što je American Truck Simulator puno manje igran, pa samim tim developer želi podići igranost na neku novu razinu.
