Warner Bros. je objavio službeni trailer za Mortal Kombat 2, nastavak filmskog reboota iz 2021. godine. Film će svjetsku kino-premijeru doživjeti 24. listopada 2025., uoči Noći vještica, a gledatelji mogu očekivati povratak brutalne akcije i poznatih likova iz slavne videoigre.
Nastavak će u fokusu imati lik Johnnyja Cagea, kojeg glumi Karl Urban (The Boys). Trailer jasno daje do znanja da će ovaj put film zaista prikazati sam Mortal Kombat turnir, element koji je izostao u prethodnom filmu i kojeg su ljubitelji igre Vizualno i tematski, nastavak se znatno više oslanja na estetiku videoigre, s još izraženijim borbama i krvavim scenama. Redatelj Simon McQuoid ponovno preuzima redateljsku palicu, a scenarij potpisuje Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight, The Exorcist). Film nosi službenu oznaku R zbog „izražene krvave nasilnosti, eksplicitnog sadržaja i jezika“.
Mortal Kombat 2 nastavlja priču u kojoj se branitelji Earthrealma suočavaju s prijetnjom cara Shao Kahna. Ulog je veći nego ikad, sudbina Zemlje visi o koncu, a turnir postaje bojište na kojem se odlučuje o ravnoteži između svjetla i tame.
