Upravo je jedan od njih termin početka sljedeće generacije konzola. Početak nove generacije planiran je za 2028. godinu., što bi bilo osam godina nakon lansiranja sadašnje generacije konzola. Kada se sjetimo one Sonyjeve prognoze od prošle godine, godina se poklapa. Ova informacija, odnosno godina, se ne odnosi na nove modele postojećih konzola. Njih možemo dobiti do 2028. godine.
Sonyjeva reakcija na cijelu situaciju također je zanimljiva. Naime, iz Sonyja su poručili kako zbog Microsoftove namjere da preuzmu Activision Blizzard više neće moći dijeliti svoje planove o sljedećem PlayStationu. Kao objašnjenje, iz Sonyja su dodali, da ne mogu riskirati otkrivanje povjerljivih informacija tvrtki koja bi ubuduće mogla biti u vlasništvu njihovog konkurenta.
