Prototype je po svome izlasku bio dostupan na PlayStationu 3 i Xbox 360 konzoala. Svega dan kasnije stigla je i PC verzija. Activision je bio zadovoljan uspjehom koja je igra postigla te smo dobili i nastavak tri godine kasnije. Tijekom 2015. dobili smo i osvježenu vereziju igre u Prototype Biohazard Bundleu koji je obuhvaćao oba nastavak serijala u verzijama za PlayStation 4 i Xbox One.
