Sony je nedavno lansirao prijenosni uređaj PlayStation Portal koji iako je zadobio velike kritike, prodaje se bolje nego što je Sony očekivao.
PlayStation Portal je uređaj koji nije oduševio, a i iz Sonya su također rekli da nisu od njega puno ni očekivali. Međutim, ovaj uređaj su mnogi htjeli probati te je Sony iznenađen brojem prodaja ovog uređaja. Hiromi Wakai (potpredsjednica za proizvode) rekla je kako je uređaj bio namjenjen za mali i određeni broj ljudi (ljudi s poteškoćama).
“Od početka je PS Portal bio zamišljen kao proizvod za ljude sa specifičnim potrebama i one koji se igraju na specifičan način.” rekla je Wakai.
Velika kritika ovog uređaja je bila ta, što uređaj radi pomoću streaminga s PlayStation konzole na sami uređaj, a ne kao samostalna konzola. Mnogima se to nije svidjelo zbog lošijeg performansa i malog delaya na uređaju, no Wakai je objasnila da nisu htjeli developerima zadavat dodatan pritisak u kreiranju igara za još jednu dodatnu konzolu.
