Nakon što su se EA Sports i krovna nogometna organizacija FIFA razišli ostalo je pitanje tko će preuzeti odgovornost za kreiranje imenom najpopularnije nogometne simulacije.
EA Sports se okrenuo svome proizvodu kojeg su nazvali EA Sports FC dok FIFA i dalje službeno nije najavila tko će im biti partner u izradi nove igre. Nekoliko je opcija tu kružilo pa čak i ona najluđa ideja da Konami otkupi prava svog mrskog rivala. To se nije dogodilo i oni će nastaviti s radom na eFootballu.
Zainteresiranost je pokazao 2K Games koji je prema glasinama sredinom veljača i potspisao ugovor s FIFA-om. Pogledamo li širu sliku to je jedino moguće rješenje situacije. 2K ima iskustva s izradom sportskih igara, a FIFA više ne može čekati jer već 2026. imamo Svjetsko prvenstvo u Sjevernoj Americi. Sigurno ne želite plasirati igru svega nekoliko mjeseci prije prvenstva već si želite dati vremena odnosno jednu inačicu igre na kojoj će te se oprobati.
Službenih najava još nema, ali je sve izvjesnije kako bi ove godine mogli imati nikada više nogometnih simulacija. EA FC, eFootball, a uskoro bi nam došli UFL i FIFA 2K.
