Redatelj Bioshock filma danas je otkrio kako su nagađanja točna te da je Netlix smanjio buđet za izradu filmske adaptacije 2K-evog serijala.
Špekulacije su potvrđene na panelu tijekom San Diego Comic Cona gdje je bio prisutan i Roy Lee, redatelj filma, objasnivši kako su promjene u upravljčkoj strukturi Netflixa razlog zašto je buđet produkcije smanjen. Film će tako promjeniti smjer razvoja te bi trebao imati osobniji pristup nego da bude blockbuster.
Lee je također potvrdio kako Netlix od sada isplaćuje bonuse temeljem rezultata koje je film postigao po pitanju broja gledatelja. Istaknuo je kako je to dodatna motivacija producentima da naprave kvalitetan film koji će privući veću publiku. Usprkos ovim izjavama o smanjenju buđeta ljubitelji serijala očekuju kvalitetnu adaptaciju posebice uz hype koji se stvara nakon što su krenule priče o radu na novome nastavku videoigre.
