Netflix je službeno dao zeleno svijetlo za igranu seriju temeljenu na popularnoj Ubisoftovoj franšizi Assassin’s Creed, prenosi Variety. Projekt je godinama bio u razvoju, a sada je napokon dobio zeleno svjetlo. Seriju će voditi Roberto Patino (Westworld) i David Wiener (Halo) kao showrunneri i izvršni producenti. Obojica su dugogodišnji fanovi franšize, a u izjavi za medije otkrili su kako su uz serijal još od prvog naslova iz 2007. godine. “Ispod spektakla, parkoura i akcije, Assassin’s Creed u svojoj srži donosi najvažniju vrstu ljudske priče – onu o potrazi za smislom, pitanjima identiteta, sudbine i vjere,” izjavili su Patino i Wiener.
Margaret Boykin iz Ubisoft Film & Television dodala je kako se raduju što će pružiti iskustvo koje “odražava ono što fanovi najviše vole kod Assassin’s Creeda, ali i približiti njegov svijet i teme novoj publici širom svijeta.” Radnja nove serije bit će fokusirana na tajni rat između dviju sjenaških organizacija – jedne koja pokušava kontrolirati budućnost čovječanstva manipulacijom i druge koja se bori za očuvanje slobodne volje. Gledatelji će pratiti likove kroz ključne povijesne događaje dok utječu na tijek čovječanstva.
Assassin’s Creed bit će prva igrana Netflixova adaptacija Ubisoftove igre. Prijašnji projekti poput Rabbids Invasion i nadolazećeg Splinter Cell: Deathwatch bili su animirani. Datum izlaska još nije otkriven, no s obzirom na zeleno svijetlo Netflixa, vjerojatno ćemo uskoro doznati više informacija i dobiti trailer.
