20th Century Studios službeno je najavio novi film iz Simpsons serijala, koji će u kina stići 23. srpnja 2027. godine, gotovo dvadeset godina nakon prvog filma iz 2007. godine. Najava je stigla putem društvenih mreža uz jednostavan opis: “Homer’s coming back for seconds.”
Prvi The Simpsons Movie iz 2007. godine zaradio je više od 500 milijuna dolara na svjetskim kino blagajnama, te je dobio vrlo pozitivne kritike. Gotovo dva desetljeća kasnije, fanovi su s oduševljenjem dočekali vijest o nastavku, iako o samom sadržaju novog filma još nema nikakvih detalja. Osim toga, ne znamo ni hoće li nastavak nositi naziv The Simpson Movie 2 ili nešto drugačije. Ono što znamo jest da nas čeka gotovo dvije godine iščekivanja, dok fanovi već sada nagađaju kakve bi se urnebesne situacije mogle naći u filmu.
Simpsoni su prisutni na televiziji još od 1987., a pod tim imenom od 1990. godine. Riječ je o najdugovječnijoj američkoj animiranoj seriji koja će se, prema trenutačnim planovima, emitirati barem do 2029. godine. Uz to, siguran je i ponovni dolazak Homer Simpsona na veliko platno na ljeto 2027. godine!
