Snimanje za nastavak filma Mortal Kombat iz 2021. je završilo, ali je producent poručio kako će proći još određeni period dok prvi trailer ne ugleda svijetlo dana. Mortal Kombat iz 2021. godine na Rotten tomatoes ima 55% pozitivnih ocjena od strane kritičara, dok su ga gledatelji puno bolje ocijenili i ima 86%. Efekti koje smo mogli vidjeti u ovom filmu su bili ono što ga je krasilo, a očekujemo da će nastavak biti još brutalniji i krvaviji.
Producent Mortal Kombat 2, Todd Garner, poručio je na svom X profilu da je rad na filmu završen. Dodao je i kako je snimanje ovog filma bilo nevjerojatno putovanje, te da ga je iznenadilo koliko je snimanje bilo kratko. Naime, Mortal Kombat 2 je snimao svega tri mjeseca, što je u filmskom svijetu jako malo. Doduše to ne znači da je film gotov, sada kreće druga faza postprodukcije u kojoj će se dodavati efekti i slične stvarčice. Garner dodaje kako će taj proces trajati jer ne žele napraviti ništa na brzinu. Samim time, film kao ni prvi trailer nećemo gledati tako brzo.
