Već se dugo priča o tome da je Microsoft otkupio Activision Blizzard. Cijena je bila čak 68,7 milijardi američkih dolara. Međutim nisu ga mogli tada preuzeti zato što im to nije odobrilo regulatorno tijelo UK.
Microsoftov plan o preuzimanju Activisiona Velika Britanija u početku nije odobrila zbog nekoliko neslaganja. Britanski regulatori rekli su kako bi ova promjena mogla štetiti gaming tržištu. Na kraju su se obje strane dogovorile za kompromis. U kompromisu su prava na streaming igara Activisiona dana Ubisoftu.
Danas je Velika Britanija odobrila Microsoftov plan, te vjerujemo da će biti veliko slavlje u cjelokupnom Microsoftu. Osim što će ovo biti najveća akvizicija ikada u gaming industriji, ovo će biti i jedna od najvećih akvizicija općenito u poslovnom svijetu.
Microsoft još nije javno potvrdio ovu promjenu, no očekuje se da to bude danas ili do najkasnije 18.10.
