U novom traileru vidimo glavnu junakinju Samus Aran kako istražuje planet Viewros, koristeći svoje nove moći, kao i futuristički Vi-O-La motor dok se bori protiv raznih neprijatelja. Razvoj igre bio je iznimno dug i turbulentan. Nakon što je prvotno najavljena 2017. godine, produkcija je ponovljena i prebačena u ruke Retro Studiosa, što je dodatno produžilo čekanje zajednice. Prisjetimo se kako je posljednji dio serijala, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, izašao davne 2007. godine.
