Glasine su bile istinite, a Sony je ovu vijest objavio kao grom iz vedra neba, bez ikakve najave, bez ikakvog teasera. Lansiranje ove redizajnirane konzole bi trebalo biti do kraja ove godine.
Treba napomenuti kako će i digitalna i obična PlayStation 5 konzola dobiti estetsko poboljšanje specifikacija. Ovo nije niti PS5 Pro ili pak PS5 Slim, iako su obje konzole utjelovljuju osobine koje bi odmah povezali s tim nazivima. Iz Sonyja poručuju kako je ovo jednostavno redizajn PlayStation 5 konzola. Od sada možete odvojiti bočnu ploču koja sadrži utor za disk.
Osim odvojivog utora za disk, novi redizajnovi će imati Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive. Uz njega će imati čak 1TB SSD za povećanje interne memorije. Konzole će biti lakše i njihov volumen će biti znatno manji, što je vrlo pohvalno jer svi znamo da je PlayStation 5 bio veliki dečko.
Na području Europe PS5 s Ultra HD Blu-ray disk pogonom će vas koštati 549,99 eura, dok je PS5 Digital Edition nešto jeftiniji i koštat će vas 449,99 eura.
