Zvijezda Ledenog doba John Leguizamo je naizgled potvrdio da je Ice Age 6 u razvoju, a projekt je kratko spomenuo glumac koji je davao glas poznatome i najdražem Sidu u nedavnom intervjuu. Filmovi o Ledenom dobu započeli su još 2002. godine s originalnim filmom, a njegov je uspjeh iznjedrio franšizu koja se sastoji od pet glavnih priloga i Disney+ spinoff filma, The Ice Age Adventure of Buck Wild. Međutim, od izlaska filma za streaming 2022. nije bilo konkretnih vijesti o tome hoće li biti snimljen još jedan film.

Iako glumac Leguizamo nije spomenuo svoju umiješanost u film, niti kakva bi njegova priča mogla biti, njegova izjava je u skladu s dokumentom produkcije Buck Wild Disney+ koji potvrđuje da je još jedan film u razvoju. Budući da glumac govori o filmu, moglo bi biti još konkretnih vijesti o smjeru franšize u bliskoj budućnosti i tome se jako radujemo.
Dok bi novi film tehnički bio Ice Age 7, nadolazeći Ice Age 6 bit će prvi glavni ulazak u serijalu koji neće biti animiran od strane Blue Sky Studiosa. Studio za animaciju zatvorio je Disney u travnju 2021. godine zbog ekonomskog utjecaja pandemije Covid-19, a 20th Century Animation i Bardel Entertainment preuzeli su uzde za Bucka Wilda.
