Iz Arrowhead Game Studiosa i PlayStationa najavili su prvo veliko proširenje za njihov hit naslov, Helldivers 2. Igra je do sada dobivala nekolicinu manjih dodataka, ali s Escalation of Freedom developeri žele pokušati vratiti najveći dio igrača do sada. Kako sada stvari stoje, Escalation of Freedom ne bi trebao biti ekspanzija, već se radi o velikom ažuriranju. Ono što je važno je činjenica kako je ovo ažuriranje besplatno, te da dolazi 6. kolovoza.
Sigurno se pitate što uopće donosi ova nova ekspanzija, e pa, prvo Helldivers 2 dobiva nove/stare vrste protivnika. Ako ste igrali prvi Helldivers naslov, onda će vam ti protivnici biti poznati, no ako niste, onda se tek trebate upoznati s njima. Escalation of Freedom donosi i puno veće baze, raznovrsnije misije i novi okoliš (močvara). Kao šlag na torti iz Arrowheada su odlučili “zabiberiti” igračima s CR 10: Super Helldive. Riječ je o najtežem izazovu u igri do sada, a oni najbolji koji riješe isti dobivaju prigodne nagrade.
Za kraj, ostavili smo manji detalj koji su developeri odlučili implementirati u svoj naslov. Naime, unutar Escalation of Freedom, Helldivers 2 imat će novi sustav izbacivanja igrača iz tima. Igrač koji bude izbačen iz tima od sada automatski postaje host u novoj sesiji, ali mu se prebacuju sve prikupljene stvari iz prethodne sesije. Ovakvim sustavom su developeri eliminirali bilo kakve gubitke za nekoga.
