Film će ponovno biti produciran od strane Illuminationa, dok se ekipa koja će raditi na filmu biti pojačana. Nintendov dizajner igara, Shigeru Miyamoto će također raditi na nastavku. Nastavak Super Mario Bros. filma će režirati Aaron Horvath i Michael Jelenic, dok je za scenarij zadužen Matthew Fogel.
